Working from home – reimbursement and eligible expenses

We have received inquiries from members about working from home expenses eligible for reimbursement. The University website outlines guidelines for purchasing items for working at home

The following are a few of the highlights from the guidelines:

  • You will not be reimbursed for any computer equipment and software purchases that are made independently without authorization from ICT, or are not authorized to be purchased on a PCard.
  • Eligible USask employees can download Microsoft Office 365 for free on personal computers. Contact IT Support prior to purchasing new software on a home computer for the potential to receive preferred pricing through the university’s various licensing agreements.
  • Employees requiring day-to-day office supplies can receive discounts and/or rebates to the university by purchasing through Supreme Office Products. For further instructions, visit the university’s website.

The University will be issuing a Form T2200 Declaration of Condition of Employment for the 2020 tax year. Information is still being gathered on what the T2200 form will support. However, what will be eligible for deductions will be posted in Knowledge Base.
