Accommodation requests with a “return to normal”

With communications from senior administration about an expected “return to work,” we know that our members face different circumstances. We are aware that there is a general expectation from administration that students be taught face-to-face and that other necessary collegial and academic work take place on campus as the expectation of “returning to normal” is articulated.

However, valid medical issues remain with the ever-present COVID virus and faculty who themselves are vulnerable or whose family members are vulnerable can still request accommodation. Family status and medical accommodations are protections offered by the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, and this legislation has not changed. We encourage you to speak to your Department Head or Dean about your particular circumstances whether you have on-going requirements to maintain an existing accommodation or need to make a new request. We also invite you to contact the USFA for assistance and advice.
