USFA Member Development Committee

In 2010-2011 the USFA Executive created the Member Development Committee. The purpose of this committee is to create initiatives to increase the participation of USFA members in the work of the USFA.

Last year, the Committee held monthly member socials to create a regular opportunity for USFA members to connect with each other, with Executive Committee members and with USFA staff. The socials had no set agenda, but a few moments were taken to pose specific questions and hold some group discussion. The socials were well attended and everyone welcomed the opportunity to meet with colleagues from other parts of the University in a relaxed and friendly setting.

The Committee also met with some USFA members from across campus to get their thoughts about what could be done to stimulate more involvement in the Association. Their insights were fascinating and thought-provoking.

In the coming year the Member Development Committee will be continuing to work on increasing member participation in the work of the USFA. There will again be monthly socials and some of the ideas members have suggested will be put into action.

The health and longevity of the USFA depends on the involvement of its members, but being involved is good for you too. It’s an easy way for you to increase your knowledge and awareness of the role of the USFA, the importance of the Collective Agreement, and how the USFA is a resource to you during your career at the U of S.

We are always seeking members to serve on committees, as Observers or as Association representatives. If you are interested or would like more information, do contact the USFA office.
