USFA Statement on unmarked graves found at former Kamloops Indian Residential School

It is with great sadness that we learned the remains of 215 children were found in unmarked graves on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. We acknowledge the grief of residential school survivors and those who suffer intergenerational trauma from residential school experiences. We grieve with them.

We note that education and the role of educators is at the forefront of calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and we recognize the responsibility of faculty in those calls.
