Johanne joined the staff of the USFA in 2001 after more than a decade as a local union leader and activist with the United Steelworkers union. She is an active participant at the bargaining table and works closely with USFA leadership on strategic matters. Johanne is responsible for advising and supporting a number of association committees including the Joint Committee for Management of the Agreement (JCMA), the USFA Communications Committee and the USFA Committee on Women’s Issues (CWI). She is one of the USFA observers for appointments and attends many initial Search Committee meetings.

Abbie joined the USFA staff in 2019 as a co-op student with the Edwards School of Business. After completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Human Resources, she began her role as Member Services Officer in 2021. Abbie supports the appointment process through attending initial search committee meetings, responding to inquiries, and reviewing appointment packages. She also works with several Association committees including the Negotiating Committee, the Joint Committee for the Management of the Agreement, the Association Grievance Committee and the Member Engagement Committee.

Reuben joined the USFA as a Professional Officer in 2023, following eight years providing professional services to the University of Victoria Faculty Association. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Manitoba. As a Professional Officer, Reuben’s responsibilities include working closely with the Executive Committee on policy issues and other disputes with University administration, as well as serving as a Faculty Association representative or observer on joint union-employer committees. In addition to his legal training, Reuben brings a principled and pragmatic approach to negotiation and dispute resolution that recognizes the respective roles and interests of unions and management within a labour relations framework.
