Since May 2021, USFA has been engaging in negotiations regarding a retirement incentive proposed by the Employer. We are pleased to let you know these discussions have concluded with a tentative agreement that provides some certainty and stability for an additional year through an extension to the Collective Agreement, enhancements to permanent retirement incentives in the Agreement, and assurances concerning workload.
The USFA Executive Committee has unanimously passed a motion to recommend that USFA members accept this tentative agreement, which will extend the 2017–2022 Collective Agreement to June 30, 2023. This agreement includes a one-time targeted retirement incentive to faculty 60 years of age or older, a new article with a retirement incentive targeted to faculty between 55 and 67 years of age who have a minimum of 10 years of service, enhancements to the Reduced Appointment Retirement Plan (RARP), bridge funding for units impacted by retirements that come about from these retirement incentives, and an agreement to establish a joint committee to investigate and make recommendations on procedures, criteria, and mechanisms that could be put in place to address concerns about workload decisions. The one-year extension of the Agreement includes an increase of 1.8% onto base salaries for all employees and a corresponding adjustment of 1.8% to salary scales.
Pursuant to Section 10 (b) of the Constitution of the University of Saskatchewan Faculty Association, a Special General Meeting of the Faculty Association will be held virtually on Monday, January 10th at 2:00 pm to consider ratification of the tentative agreement (attached).
