It was recently announced that new University Standards for Tenure and Promotion have been approved by the University Review Committee. The Association has concerns that the process set out in the collective agreement for arriving at these new standards has not been followed and a grievance may ensue.
The Association raised procedural concerns through the Joint Committee for the Management of the Agreement (JCMA) in the fall of 2024, seeking to avoid a grievance. Discussions took place with the Employer at JCMA and at the conclusion of those discussions, the Association believed the process would play out as prescribed in the agreement. However, that does not seem to have happened.
