The memo that went out to USFA members from Human Resources yesterday about the MRARP contains several errors.
The Detailed Plan Information page linked from the memo references an “Application Process” and provides a link to an “Application” form, which specifies that “your Dean will provide decisions (approvals and deferrals) to you no later than Sept. 30, 2018.” In fact, we agreed there would be no application and approval process. All who are eligible simply notify their Deans that they will be taking the MRARP.
The form also stipulates that “Employees will receive a written response by Sept. 30, 2017, which will indicate what the reduced duties will consist of.” This is incorrect. The MRARP states that duties will be a proportional reduction of previously assigned duties unless mutually agreed to by employer and employee.
More explicitly, according to Article 11.1 of the Collective Agreement, your duties should have been approved by April 30, 2017.
The process of assignment of duties shall be completed by Department Heads by March 31, and approved by Deans by April 30 for the next academic year.
If you take the MRARP, these assigned duties will be proportionally reduced unless you and your Department Head and/or Dean agree otherwise.
